Put Windows Vista in Hibernate Mode

Use hibernation to save power and not-quite-exactly turn the PC off. Hibernation saves all the computer’s memory — everything the system is doing — and then turns the computer off (really turns it off, rather than just placing it in Sleep mode). When you turn the computer on again, things return to the way they were before. So, hibernation not only saves electricity but also provides a faster way to turn the computer off and then on again.

To hibernate your computer, you must program one of the power buttons: the console’s power button, the console’s moon button (if it has one), or the Start menu power button. After you program one of those buttons, pressing (or clicking) it hibernates the computer.

To wake up a computer from Hibernate mode, you simply turn it on, just as you normally turn on the computer. Remember these points about hibernation:
