When you finish basic training, Dragon recommends that you let it look at your dictation, corrections, and other files to train itself and improve accuracy. This is a way for it to familiarize itself with your voice, the words you choose, and the type of documents you generate. The more training you allow, the better your results. (You have the option to read the Dragon privacy statement, if that concerns you.)
After Dragon has adapted your User Profile, a screen pops up and asks you if you’d like to let the program scan your documents and e-mails so that it can find unfamiliar words and add them now. This is a one-time scan. Follow these steps:
If you agree, click the Start button. If you choose not to do it now, deselect the document and e-mail check boxes and click Next.
The scan may be quick or take up to 30 minutes, depending on the amount of content you have on your hard drive.
After the scan is complete, click Next.
You are taken to a screen that deals with improving accuracy. You are asked if you want to run those programs at a scheduled time.
If you agree to run the programs at the scheduled times, then leave the check box that says Automatically Improve Accuracy checked and click Next.
If you want to change the default schedule that Dragon has chosen, click the Change Schedule button; otherwise, leave it at Monday at 2:00 AM for Acoustics and 3:00 AM every day for Language Modeling.
Leave your computer on during the times you selected so Dragon can run the improve accuracy program.
A final screen pops up asking if you want to help Dragon improve the software. Select your choice.
Click Next to go to the final training screen.
You’ll be congratulated for completing all the steps required to becoming a more productive individual. On that screen, you will also see an Open the Dragon Tutorial button. If you click it, you are taken to the tutorial. On that screen, you also have the option to learn about what’s new in Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11.0 if you had a previous version.
Click Finish.
You will see a message window telling you that the program is initializing and loading your profile. It’s complete when the Tip of the Day window pops up.
Now you’re ready to open an application and start dictating!
