How to Install SeaMonkey Composer

Few things in this life are absolute necessities, but photos in your eBay listings definitely are! Enter SeaMonkey Composer, a free HTML editor that you can use to develop a simple listing template that includes a space for a photo.

SeaMonkey is a free, fully functional Windows or Mac Internet suite from Mozilla (the same folks who brought you Firefox). It consists of a Web browser, an e-mail and news-client program, and SeaMonkey Composer, an HTML editor. In other words, you can get all these programs in one. Many people replace their Internet Explorer or Firefox with the feature-rich, faster, less-memory-hogging SeaMonkey; SeaMonkey Composer is an important part of this suite.

You can download the free suite from the SeaMonkey Project site.

Since SeaMonkey is a suite (meaning it has several programs all in one), you decide which program you want to run when you click the SeaMonkey icon. If you just want to use SeaMonkey Composer, take the following steps:

  1. After downloading the software, open it by double-clicking the SeaMonkey icon.

You might just want to play with its superfast Web browser and maybe get a feel for its other features . . . but these steps concentrate on using Composer.

  2. Click the Edit link in the toolbar.

  3. Select Preferences and then Appearance.

On the Appearance page, you can indicate which program you would like to see when you open the suite.

  4. Put a check mark next to Composer and click OK.

The next time you click the SeaMonkey icon, Composer will open.
