eBay rules and regulations state that buyers and sellers must contact each other by e-mail within three business days of the auction’s end. For example, if an item closes on a Saturday, you need to make contact by Wednesday.
Most sellers contact auction winners promptly because they want to complete the transaction and get paid. Few buyers or sellers wait for the official eBay EOA e-mail to contact each other. If you’ve won an item and intend to pay through PayPal, it’s de rigueur for you to use the Pay Now link on the item page as soon as possible after you’ve won.
If you need to contact the seller before sending payment, you have several ways to find contact information:
Click the Ask Seller a Question link on the auction page, which takes you to the Ask Seller a Question form.
Click the Site Map link, located above the navigation bar on every eBay page, and then click the Find a Member link. On the resulting page, click the link to find Contact Information.
Click the Advanced Search link (at the top-right corner of all eBay pages), and then click the Find Contact Information link (on the left side of the page).
Within the first three business days after an auction or a Buy it Now transaction, limit yourself to using the Ask Seller a Question form. The seller (if signed in) sees the buyer’s e-mail address on the item page after the sale is closed.
eBay doesn’t tolerate abuses of its contact system. Make sure that you use this resource to communicate with another user only about a specific transaction in which you are participating. To use contact information to complete a deal outside eBay is an infringement of the rules. If you abuse the contact system, eBay can investigate you and kick you off the site.
