How to Fix Color Casts in Your Digital Photos

Open the image with the unwanted color cast in your image editor.

Typically, photos that are too red or too blue are the most common color cast errors.

Select your image editor’s Color Balance, Color Cast, or similar command.

The dialog box opens with an array of tools, similar to what you see in this figure.

Choose whether you want to apply the change to the Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights.

Figure out what range the color cast affects.

Move the Cyan/Red, Magenta/Green, or Yellow/Blue slider away from the color of the unwanted hue.

For example, if your picture is too blue, move the Yellow/Blue slider toward Yellow.

Click OK to apply the change when you’re satisfied.
