Set a Device Password to Stream with Spotify’s Hi-Fi Partners

You can listen to all your music in rich, gleaming hi-fi — streaming from the cloud — thanks to Spotify’s partnerships with a number of top-quality sound-system manufacturers. You don’t necessarily need to have Spotify open on your computer or mobile device to use these Internet-ready systems, and you can stream to multiple rooms in the house, provided you have a compatible device from the same manufacturer in each room.

They let you log into Spotify from the units themselves, conduct searches (in some cases), and access playlists through a dedicated interface.

New partners are being announced all the time. These manufacturers have special access to Spotify’s underlying mechanisms, and you need to be a Premium subscriber in order to use their functionality.

Anyone who signed up to Spotify before September 23, 2011, and has a Premium subscription can use his existing Spotify username and password to log into these systems. If you use Facebook to log into Spotify (rather than a username), then you need to find your device username and set a password to use on these devices. Follow these steps:

1. Go to www.spotify.com and click Log In.

   
   



2. From the drop-down list that appears, select Log in with Facebook.

   
   

   If you’re already logged into Facebook, you’re also logged into Spotify automatically.

   
   



3. If you aren’t logged into Facebook, enter your Facebook details in the pop-up window that appears and click Log In.

   
   



4. Click your name at the top-right, and then select Edit Profile from the drop-down list that appears.

   
   

   You get taken to an Edit Your Profile page.

   
   



5. In the Use Spotify on Your Devices section, click Set a Password for Your Devices.

   
   



6. On the Set Device Password page, click the Send E-Mail to Set Password button.

   
   

   An e-mail that contains your device username and a link to set your password appears in your inbox.

   
   



7. Click the Set Your Device Password link in the e-mail.

   
   

   The Set a Password for Your Devices page appears.

   
   



8. In the Your Device Password text box, enter a new password.

   
   



9. Type the password again in the Confirm Device Password text box.

   
   



10. Click Set Device Password to finish.
