Chances are, you already own a computer, and if you bought it within the last few years, it’s probably more than capable of handling your photo-editing needs for your dog photographs. Computer technology advances at breakneck speed, and with each advance comes a reduction in price, so these days, you’d be hard-pressed to find a computer that isn’t capable of photo editing.
If you want to find a new computer for the job, just let your friendly sales associate know that you’ll be using it to touch up photos, and he’ll point you in the right direction when it comes to processors, RAM, hard drives, and the gazillion other technical specs that make up a computer.
If you plan on purchasing a new computer to complement your photography workflow, look for a system with a minimum 2GB of RAM (Random Access Memory). Photo-editing software takes more processing power than typical software programs that come preloaded on your computer, so the more RAM you have, the smoother your touch-ups will go!
Your computer is the gateway to your images. It’s where you download your photos to save them for future use. It’s the place to view them at a larger size than on your camera’s LCD. And it’s the piece of equipment that runs your photo-editing software. If you don’t have a computer, you may as well be up the postprocessing creek without a paddle!
