Droid Bionic: Text Message Management

If you’d rather have more control over your text messages on your Droid Bionic, here's how you can delete messages, and set message ringtones for your phone.

Removing text messages

To delete a text message conversation, follow these exact steps:

  1. Open the conversation you want to remove.

Choose the conversation from the main Text Messaging screen.

  2. Touch the Menu soft button and choose the Delete command.

  3. Touch the Delete button to confirm.

    The conversation is gone.

If you want to delete every conversation shown on the main Text Messaging screen, follow these steps:

  1. Touch the Menu soft button.

  2. Choose Select Multiple.

  3. Touch the box next to each conversation you want to zap.

Obviously, if you want to keep a conversation, don’t touch its box.

A green check mark appears by conversations slated for execution.

  4. Touch the Delete button, and then touch Delete again to confirm.

    The selected conversations are gone.

Setting the text message ringtone

The sound you hear when a new text message floats in is the text message ringtone. It’s a different ringtone than the incoming call or notification ringtone, and you set it in a different place. Follow these steps to set your Droid Bionic’s text message ringtone:

  1. Open the Text Messaging app.

  2. Ensure that you’re viewing the main screen, which lists all your conversations.

If you’re not viewing that screen, press the Back soft button.

  3. Press the Menu soft button.

  4. Choose Messaging Settings, and then choose Select Ringtone.

  5. Pluck a ringtone from the list.

  6. Touch the OK button.

Press the Back soft button to return to the Text Messaging app.
