How to Use NaturallySpeaking with Skype

With the Dragon NaturallySpeaking LifeStyle Pack, you can now use Skype as a Full Text Control application. Skype gives you free voice and video calling to anyone else on Skype in the world. To download Skype, go to the Skype sign-up page and create an account.


To figure out the right voice commands, look at the menu options.

Imagine the fun of dictating your instant messages and calling your contacts — all hands free! Now, that’s easy. If you want to try it, make sure Skype and Dragon NaturallySpeaking are running (along with your connection to VoxEnable). Then do the following:



  1. Say, “Start Skype."


    The Skype application opens.



  2. Say the name of the contact’s name exactly as it’s listed.


    The program chooses that name.



  3. Say, “Conversation.”


    The Conversation menu item opens the submenu.



  4. Say “Send,” then say, “Instant message.”


    The cursor is in the box, ready to take dictation.



  5. Dictate your message and say, “Send message.”


    Your message is sent. You can now chat back and forth.



  6. When you are finished with your virtual live visit, say, “Close Skype.”
