The BranchOut Job App on Facebook

BranchOut does one thing: It offers LinkedIn-style functionality to your Facebook network. Unlike LinkedIn, Facebook wasn’t designed for professional networking, but in early 2010, Facebook acquired a small startup called BranchOut. Because of Facebook’s official endorsement of this app, every job seeker should take a serious look at BranchOut.

After you install BranchOut by visiting Branchout.com and connecting the app to your Facebook account, you’re offered a chance to import your LinkedIn profile in order to populate your BranchOut profile. This means you don’t have to rewrite your entire résumé again. After you’re in, you can make further edits to your new Facebook résumé.

The most powerful feature BranchOut provides is allowing you to see what companies are in your Facebook network and what people in your network you can ask for an introduction to. Because your BranchOut profile is essentially the same as your LinkedIn profile and is viewable by second-degree connections, finding people to get introductions to on Facebook is much easier.

If you want to meet someone at a company, just use the “Ask for Introduction” feature.
