How to Use FlipShare to View Your Flip Video Files

Your Flip Video camera comes with preloaded video and photo managing software called FlipShare. FlipShare can be used on both Mac and PC platforms, and if it’s the program you’ve chosen to copy recorded video files from your Flip camera to your computer’s hard drive, follow these steps:

  1. Launch FlipShare to open the FlipShare main window.

  2. Plug your Flip camera into a USB port on your computer.

The Camcorder section of the Navigation pane automatically expands and displays the All and Unsaved folders. An exclamation icon appears next to the Unsaved folder icon, indicating that some or all of the video files saved on your Flip camera have not been saved to your computer’s hard drive.

The number next to the All folder displays the total number of videos stored on your Flip camera. The number next to Unsaved folder indicates how many video files stored on your Flip camera have not been copied to your computer’s hard drive.

If there are no unsaved video files on your Flip camera, you’ve already copied all the video files to your computer’s hard drive.

  3. Click either the All or Unsaved folder in the Navigation pane to display the contents of the chosen folder in the workspace.

  4. Select the video files you want to copy one of the following ways:

    • Click the Select All button or the Select Unsaved button (lower-left corner of the Workspace).

    • Click an individual video file or select multiple video files by holding the Control key and then clicking each movie you want to select.

  5. Click the “Save to Computer” button on the Action bar. (You can also choose File, Save to Computer, or press Ctrl+S.)

The “Save Videos to Computer” dialog box appears.

  6. Click Yes or No.

A second “Save Videos to Computer” dialog box appears.

The “Save Videos to Computer” dialog doesn’t appear if you selected the “Don’t Ask Me Again” check box. Skip to Step 8 if you don’t see the “Save Videos to Computer” dialog.

    • If you want FlipShare to erase the video (or videos) from your Flip camera after it copies the file (or files) to your computer, select the “Remove Videos From Camcorder After Saving” check box.

    • If you want FlipShare to just go ahead and copy your video file (or files) to your computer without bothering you with the “Save Videos to Computer” dialog whenever you copy files to your computer, select the “Don’t Ask Me Again” check box.

  7. Click Yes to copy your video files to your computer or click No if you don’t want to.

  8. The Progress box displays the “FlipShare Is Working” message, along with a progress bar.

When FlipShare is done copying the video files to your computer, it displays a completion message.
