Main Toolbar Buttons for OpenOffice.org

The main toolbar in OpenOffice.org, which appears on the left side of the screen, has many of the frequently used OpenOffice.org commands. Some buttons on the main toolbar lead to a fly-out toolbar, which you can turn into a floating toolbar. To do so, click the main toolbar Insert button and hold down the mouse button for a second. Then, simply drag the fly-out toolbar from its title bar to anywhere on the screen.
