The Font tab in the Word 2007 Font dialog box contains many commands for formatting text, including some that you can’t access from the Font group on the Home tab. For example, you can also add effects such as shadows and embossing, and preview the results before you apply them.
Summon the Font dialog box.
Click the Dialog Box Launcher button in the lower-right corner of the Font group, or press Ctrl+D.
Choose the options you want for your text.
The Font Tab offers features that are not available in the Font group of the Home tab:
Using the Underline Style drop-down list, you can choose from several types of underlining.
The Effects area offers festive attributes — such as Shadow, Outline, Emboss, and Engrave — but you should save these for titles and headings.
The best benefit of the Font dialog box is the Preview window, at the bottom. That window shows you exactly how your choices affect text in your document.
Close the Font dialog box.
When you're done setting up your font stuff, click the OK button. Or, click Cancel if you’re just visiting.
Changes you make in the Font dialog box will affect any marked block on the screen or any new text you type after you close the Font dialog box.
