Nearly all the apps available at BlackBerry App World, which is available on your PlayBook, are developed and sold by companies other than Research in Motion (RIM); they use the BlackBerry storefront to get their wares in front of you, and RIM handles the mechanics of downloading and installing the software. (RIM, of course, takes a portion of the sales price for its trouble.)
For an app to be listed in BlackBerry App World, it has to be RIM tested and approved. This helps assure that the app won’t cause you any problems (aside from trying to beat your Scrabble partner), and that the product delivers on its performance promises.
Nothing is wrong with that sort of arrangement. It does, though, add an extra layer of complexity if you have a problem or a question about an app from a company other than Research in Motion.
To get help, try this:
Go to BlackBerry App World and locate the listing for the app in question.
Tap the Support button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
The e-mail address for the developer will appear. In some cases you will also see the web address for the developer.
Send them a message and wait for a response.
