Clear the Browser on Your BlackBerry PlayBook

Sometimes you have to clear the browser on your BlackBerry PlayBook. Research in Motion, Google, Microsoft, the United Nations, and your local gardening club are all equally powerless when it comes to managing web page authors.

There are evildoers who try to plant viruses or to spy on users, there are businesses that attempt to put things on your tablet you don’t want, and there are some simply incompetent programmers who allow pages to send things that can cause problems.

Here’s a quick recap on how to go clear:

  1. From the home page, tap the browser and connect to the Internet.

You need an active WiFi or cellular connection.

  2. Swipe down from the top bezel to display the status panel.

This status panel is different from the general display of the home page.

  3. Tap the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the browser status panel.

  4. Tap the Privacy & Security panel on the left side of the screen.

  5. On the lower part of the page, choose an option:

    • Clear Cache: Erase the temporary storage of certain web material.

    • Clear Cookies: Erase cookies placed on the tablet.

    • Clear Local Storage: Delete data and other material stored on your tablet by a website.

    • Clear All: Take away all of this private information at once.

You can try each of the cleanup options individually, but if you really want to perform a deep cleaning, choose Clear All.
